Creating Ceramic Sundials

Discover the ancient mystery of sundials in this workshop. Participants will spend the day exploring the Old Valley Trail while learning about the sundial; the earliest time telling device. Topics include sundial history, design and positioning, along with some insights into earth-sun geometry. The afternoon will be spent constructing sundials using ceramics and imprinting with surface relief techniques. Adamah will finish your creation with a glazed fire prior to being placed in your garden. You will leave with the knowledge of how to use them and where to place them.

Participants will gather at the Nature Center between 8:30 and 9am. The hike begins through Old Valley Trail begins at 9am and concludes by 11:30am. Lunch at the AVRC from 12pm to 1pm. Sundial construction begins at 1pm at the Adamah Clay Studios and concludes by 4pm.
