Pollinator Habitat Creation Work Days @ Stewart County Park

The Mt Horeb Sustainability and Natural Resources Committee, in partnership with local experts and volunteers, will offer ongoing free public events throughout our community to increase public understanding of permaculture gardening and other activities to improve the natural landscape that surrounds us.

The Friends of Stewart Park will host regular Work and Learn events on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through the month of June, beginning June 6 and 7 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Tuesday work will stretch throughout the park and may include landscape work with power tools. Tuesday crews will meet at the end of Blueview Drive in June. Wednesday work will be in one of several pollinator gardens within the park and Wednesday crews will begin by meeting at the shelter in June.

Each week participants will have the opportunity to learn how the work is connected to rebuilding a healthy ecosystem within our park and how the Dane County Parks and Natural Areas contribute to improving the land and water throughout Dane County.

The Friends of Stewart Park and the Mount Horeb Natural Resources and Sustainability Committee will host local experts in permaculture gardening, birding, and natural resources in these weekly Work and Learn events. Evening and weekend events will be added within the Park as interests and opportunities emerge throughout the summer. The Friends of Stewart Park also hosts a third Sunday work day, which will be on June 18. Interested volunteers will meet at the Stewart Park shelter at 1:00 pm.
